Summary
Cheerleaders Addy Hanlon and Beth Cassidy are best friends, but team captain Beth has always been the leader and Addy her follower. Now seniors, they are revered by the other girls--until the young new Coach Colette arrives, inviting Addy and the squad into her life. Beth launches a vicious smear campaign to regain her position as "top girl." When a suicide occurs, a police investigation focuses on Coach and her squad and Addy is torn between her friend and new mentor. As she seeks to uncover the truth behind the death, Addy instead learns about the dark and dangerous side of love and loyalty.

Critique
A suspenseful and dark look at obsessions and jealousy. Though this novel is set in a high school and stars teenaged girls, it is absolutely a book for an adult audience. While this reader prefers Abbott's noir mysteries, this book had me guessing until the very end.
