Summary
Two soldiers, bound together in basic training when Private Bartle promises to watch after Private Murphy, encounter the physical and psychological trauma of the Iraq War. Critique
This stirring debut novel is beautifully and poetically written, capturing the experience of war with honesty and compassion. Nominated for a National Book Award. Highly recommend.
