Summary
Clay Jannon, an unemployed Web designer, has no idea what he has stumbled upon the night he enters Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour bookstore in search of a job. It is obvious that this is no ordinary bookstore. The night shift gives him plenty of time to ponder the situation and the natural conclusion is that the store is a front for a weird book cult. With the help of some friends and Google, Clay starts putting together the puzzle, with astonishing results.
Critique
This quirky and charming debut is equal parts homage to the printed word and a nod to the power of technology. A modern-day quest, packed with memorable characters, witty dialog, and a feel-good outcome.
