Summary
Evelyn Couch is visiting her mother-in-law when she meets 86-year-old Ninny Threadgoode, a resident, in the visitors' lounge of the Rose Terrace Nursing Home. The women quickly become friends and Evelyn looks forward to their weekly chats. Evelyn feels that she has gotten lost along the way and has no purpose in life. Their conversations center on Ninny's recollections of life in Whistle Stop, Alabama, and the cafe owned by Ruth and Idgie.
