Summary
It's the 1920s, Prohibition is in full swing and Rose Baker is a shy typist (transcriptionist) at a busy New York City police station. When the beautiful Odalie is hired to work alongside her, Rose becomes obsessed with her. Soon, her mysterious new friend takes the very prim and proper Rose to places she never imagined she would go and Rose finds herself compromising all she once thought moral and right.
Critique
Rose is an unreliable narrator and readers will find it hard to put down this compelling novel that twists and turns until the book's final pages.
