Summary
It's 1967 and the Newark race riots are in full swing. Amidst this chaos, the "turk's load," a large quantity of heroin belonging to New Jersey crime boss Angelo DiNoti, goes missing. DiNoti is eager to claim what is his and will do anything to get it, but of course, he's not the only one who wants to get their hands on the load.
Critique
This hard boiled read makes for fun and funny reading and has a kooky cast of characters, some good, some bad, some pathetic, and some that are somewhere in between. Fans of Elmore Leonard will devour it whole.
