Summary
In the summer of 1972, 13-year-old Riddle Camperdown, scion of an old and wealthy New England family, witnesses a murder and, fearing for her life, tells no one. Meanwhile, her distracted parents notice nothing as her liberal father Camp runs for Congress and her glamorous, sarcastic mother Greer reconnects with her first love.
Critique
Larger than life characters, witty, descriptive prose, closely held secrets and a sinister murderer make this a terrific novel.
