Summary
When 11-year-old Fin is orphaned, his sophisticated, carefree older sister Lady becomes his guardian. Whisked away to Greenwich Village, he's haphazardly raised by Lady as she's courted by three suitors that she doesn't love. Their lives take a surprising turn when Lady disappears and reappears in Capri with an Italian lover.
Critique
Schine's fantastical portrait of Fin's childhood with his adored sister Lady is heartfelt and fun. Literary and historical references give the book heft and an interesting narrative twist adds to the journey.
