Summary
When Jules Jacobsen attends an arts summer camp as a teenager, she meets a group of people who will become lifelong friends. We follow Jules through subsequent decades, as these friends deal with relationships, children and careers. Only one, Ethan Figman, is truly gifted and goes onto a stellar career, while the rest wrestle with the meaning of success.
Critique
A bittersweet look at evolving friendships and the intermittent jealously that comes with varying levels of talent, money and power in America. Wide-ranging, with strong characters and pitch perfect observations.
