Summary
Living in a tiny town where conformity is key and gossip is rampant is a challenge for Astrid Jones, a teen struggling to manage her first romantic relationship. She can't tell her image-obsessed mother, perfect sister, or stoner dad that she is falling in love with a girl, so she lays on the picnic table in the backyard and sends all her love to the passengers in the planes overhead.
Critique
Dysfunctional family dynamics, bullying, and small-town bigotry are woven into this lovely coming-of-age story. Astrid's story serves to remind readers to question everything and never give up on real love.
