Summary
12-year-old William Eng lives at Seattle's Sacred Heart Orphanage. On a birthday outing (all boys' birthdays at the orphanage are celebrated on the same day), William recognizes his mother, his ah-ma, on a billboard. William is determined to find his mother/actress/singer Liu Song, known as Willow Frost. He needs to know why she left him behind five years earlier.
Critique
A heartbreaking story of life in an orphanage during the Great Depression with a hint of better things to come.
