Summary
Danish Red Cross nurse Nina Borg tries to protect the young daughter of an illegal immigrant who has escaped police custody in the aftermath of a brutal murder. As she learns more about the woman's past, she struggles to believe in her innocence. Meanwhile, the stories of two young women growing up in the Ukraine under the rule of Stalin gradually begin to weave together with the immigrant's story.
Critique
The 3rd in the Nina Borg installment of mysteries set in Copenhagen, this is my first experience of this dark, character driven Scandinavian mystery but not my last!
