Summary
Historian and witch Diana Bishop time-travels to the 16th-Century along with her millennia-old husband, vampire Matthew Clairmont, to give Diana some much needed time to learn more about her powers. They also flee 21st-Century Massachusetts in order to escape the "Congregation" of creatures who wish to drive them apart. Once in Elizabethan London, they find protection in Matthew's famous friends, members of the School of Night, including Christopher Marlowe and Sir Walter Raleigh. However, Diana and Matthew also face dangers of the growing fervor against witchcraft during that era. Will they live long enough for Diana to perfect her witchcraft and for the two to return to modern times? And what other secrets will they uncover along the way?
Critique
This is the second book in the All Soul's Trilogy and it is even better than the first. Think Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series meets Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight." Compelling reading that has action, suspense, history and love story all wrapped in one.
