Summary
When her best friend Ruth is murdered, 16 year old Kippy tries to find the killer. Everyone else in her small town of Friendship, Wisconsin, thinks it was Ruth's boyfriend, but Kippy has other evidence and, as she follows the clues, including Ruth's diary, she's thwarted in every way possible, including with threats to her own life.
Critique
This debut murder mystery attempts a "Fargo" like black humor, but it's a bit strained. The friendship between Kippy and Ruth rings false and the other high school students are stereotypical. Still, it has some clever humor and a surprising ending.
