Summary
After her father's death during a failed coup, Gretchen Mueller has grown up under the protective wing of her Uncle Dolf and has served as a valued young member of the National Socialist Party. Gretchen’s world is turned upside down when she catches wind of a rumor saying that her father was actually murdered by his own comrades. Her source is a young Jewish reporter. Despite everything she has been told, her curiosity gets the best of her and she teams up with Daniel to investigate.
Critique
This well-researched debut novel offers readers a glimpse into the mind of Hitler and his Nazi party. Gretchen is a strong heroine who makes bold decisions and the forbidden romance, while not the focal point of the story, is sweet and satisfying. A strong debut with plenty of history, mystery, secrets, and heart-pounding danger.
