Summary
Jake Whyte is living on her own in an old farmhouse on a British island trying to raise sheep, though something seems to be killing them off. Could it be the local teens, a wolf or something more terrible? As we move forward in Jake's quest to uncover the culprit, we also move backward as we discover Jake's past in Australia and gradually uncover the secret that led her to flee to this remote outpost.
Critique
The unusual structure of the book, where alternating chapters move forward and backward in time, aids in the telling of this eerily mysterious and gripping story about a woman coming to terms with her haunted past.
