Summary
English anthropologist Andrew Bankson is living with and studying a New Guinea tribe when he meets another set of anthropologists, Nell Stone and her new husband Fen. Nell is famous for her controversial study of childhood sexual behavior in the Solomon Islands and Fen is a fascinating, magnetic Australian. Quickly Andrew, lonely and isolated, is swept into their lives as he helps them locate a tribe to study nearby. Based on the true story of the love triangle between Margaret Mead and her second and third husbands.
Critique
A fascinating and intelligent novel that sweeps you along into the romance and intellectual debate among these young, curious minds while exploring the controversy of colonialism and the study of other cultures.
