Summary
Unpopular conductor Hugh Tregennis is found dead from a fatal dose of morphine with a music score stuffed down his throat. Joining the Melbourne Harmony Choir, Phyrne assists Detective Inspector Jack Robinson in the investigation. Is one of the choir members the killer? Then a second unpopular conductor is poisoned with arsenic. Phyrne's wartime lover Dr. John Wilson is back traveling with pompous lecturer Rupert Sheffield, a wartime code-breaker and mathematician whose life is also in danger.
Critique
The 20th entry in the Phryne Fisher mystery series is an action-filled adventure.
