Summary
Half-sisters Eva and Iris Acton meet as young teenagers when Eva's mother abandons her at their father's door in Ohio. The two run away to Hollywood to fulfill Iris' acting dreams, but when scandal strikes, they flee California with Edgar, their prodigal father who had joined them there. They end up in New York City, where the sisters are able to supplement their need for family with the collection of people they've met during the years of the Second World War. But can the bond between the two hold fast despite the ups and downs they face along the way?
Critique
Bloom is a master of character and her cast jumps of the pages of this too-slim tale.
