Summary
It all begins when new-in-town, young and timid single mom Jane's son, Ziggy, is accused of trying to strangle another child on school Orientation day. Jane is befriended by Madeline and Celeste, older, wealthier moms, with secrets of their own. As new friendships are formed among mothers, cliques form and feelings are hurt. It should be an exciting time for kindergarten students starting at Pirriwee school, but when an adult dies on school Trivia night, everyone is suspect. And, it's obvious that it's the parents who are truly the ones in need of some education.
Critique
A book about domestic abuse and bullying shouldn't be funny, but somehow this one is. Moriarty has written a compelling work of domestic fiction that is the perfect blend of comedy and drama. Suspense, laugh-out-loud moments and surprises galore are in store for readers.
