Summary
The lives of three women intersect through an adoption. After becoming pregnant, Tia's affair with a married man ends and she decides to give her baby up for adoption. Caroline adopts Tia's baby, but isn't so sure about her mothering instincts. And Juliette, whose husband is the father of Tia's baby, discovers this secret and then pursues a relationship with the child.
Critique
It's difficult to understand the choices made by these women and so you become frustrated with their characters, but there are some insights into motherhood and marriage in this women centered novel.
