Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage is an exploration of Tsukuru Tazaki's melancholy past. As he embarks on a new romantic relationship as an established adult he is encouraged to investigate loose ends of a lost friendship.
Critique
The narrative in this novel is exceptionally written and leads the reader to question everything we know and think about Tsukuru. Tsukuru's self-discovery is mildly disheartening as it takes him 16 years to gain the courage and curiosity to seek answers.
