Summary
This prequel to Sex and the City introduces readers to Carrie Bradshaw as a senior in high school, growing up in suburban Connecticut. The Carrie Diaries brings us up to speed on Carrie’s life as she wraps up her high school career. She falls into a seemingly perfect relationship with the new, cutest boy in school, at least until a friend betrays her. She starts to uncover her voice as a writer for the school newspaper, and she starts to map out her future.
Critique
This was a fun look at one of my favorite television characters. The book explores family and friend issues that help Carrie evolve into the popular New York City columnist so many Sex and the City fans know and love.
