Summary
For the ghost of Dorothy Parker, her 'afterlife' haunting the Algonquin Hotel is preferable to a heaven where she'd have to spend time with past family members and friends. As much as she likes drinking at the hotel bar, she has become a bit lonely. Believing she's found the perfect afterlife companion, she tries to convince a dying Ted Shriver, a famously reclusive jaded author, to also sign the magic guestbook that keeps her from "moving on." Unfortunately, he's as bullheaded as she is and refuses. Enter Norah Wolfe, a long time fan of Shriver’s writing, who hopes to save her failing talk show by booking Shriver. Shriver won’t do that either, and Parker and Norah team up to try and change his mind about both of their projects.
Critique
This sequel to "Farewell, Dorothy Parker" is a fun read filled with madcap high-jinx. While the storyline is as transparent as an evaporating phantasm, it's ultimately a quick read with a sassy protagonist whose wit might just tickle your funny-bone.
