Summary
Traveling weaver Will Rees is in Salem when he encounters the funeral procession for Antiss Boothe. The next day her husband, Jacob, is found murdered. Xenobia, a Boothe family slave, is accused of the murder. Xenobia is the fiancée of Stephen “Twig” Eaton, a Revolutionary War soldier and friend of Will. Twig persuades Rees to stay in Salem and help solve the murder. Will calls upon his wife Lydia to help unravel the mystery.
