Summary
Chet the dog and Bernie Little are on the trail of a saguaro cactus smuggler, namely Billy, the son of elderly neighbor Daniel Parson. Ellie Newburg, a special investigator from the Department of Agriculture, is found shot dead. An unusual festival, long-ago kidnapping, and strange cult complete the action told from Chet's perspective.
Critique
The 8th entry in the Chet and Bernie mystery series is a fun quick read.
