Summary
A widow of two years, Harriet Chance begins to have visions of her dead husband Bernard that seem very real to her. She goes on an in-advised Alaskan cruise and there, with the help of a tell-all letter from her best friend and the arrival on-board of her oft-estranged daughter, Harriet begins to realizes that the past sixty years of her life with her husband Bernard weren't exactly what she thought they were.
Critique
This compelling, sometimes funny, sometimes bittersweet novel moves back and forth in Harriet's life, from her birth to her 78th year. Charming, entertaining and a little sad.
