Summary
Purity, "Pip" is a young woman who's wondering what to do with her future, deep in college loan debt and frustrated with her reclusive mother's refusal to reveal the identity of her father. An offer of an internship with The Sunlight Project, a Wikileaks type group headed by the charismatic and creepy Andreas Wolf, leads her to Bolivia and, possibly, to the discovery of her mother's secret.
Critique
While not Franzen's best, this is a fascinating look at secrecy vs. transparency in families, in societies and on the internet.
