Summary
Victoria is just 18-years-old in 1837 when she becomes queen. Though raised to rule, she is still a girl in many ways and as such, wishes to rid herself of the control of her domineering mother and her motherís lover, Sir John Conroy. She knows that marriage in her future but Victoria longs to control her own destiny. Is that ever possible when one is Queen?
Critique
Daisy Goodwin wrote this novel while she was writing the screenplay of the PBS series Victoria. This well researched novel of youth, love, and historical fiction captures the essence of an age and royalty.
