Summary
This the story of Rani of Jhansi, a young Indian queen. When Britain was trying to colonize India, Rani led a revolt against the British. One of her female bodyguards was Sita. Without a dowry, Sita is to become a temple prostitute, but her father successfully trains her to become a queen’s warrior/bodyguard.
Critique
Written from Sita's perspective, the reader experiences life at the royal court of Jhansi and everyday life for women in India. Lots of interesting historical detail.
