Summary
Elena Richardson, the matriarch of an upstanding family with four high school-age children in Shaker Heights, Ohio, likes everything orderly and controlled. Things get complicated when she leases out the family's rental home to secretive yet free-spirited artist, Mia and her daughter, Pearl--causing jealousies to rage between the Richardson brothers over Pearl, and the rest of the Richardson family to take sides against one another over a family friend's custody battle.
Critique
Characters come to life in this novel that crackles with small town juicy drama. Ng does a fabulous job of weaving together multiple story lines. Prepare to be riveted from the first page.
