Summary
Still reeling from a family tragedy, intrepid young sleuth Flavia de Luce and her sisters, Feely and Daffy, are taken on a holiday outing by their family's stalwart servant Dogger. While enjoying their boat ride, Flavia discovers the dead, floating body of a young costumed man. As the de Luce family is forced to stay in the small village while the death is investigated, Flavia not surprisingly decides she might as well pitch in and try to get to the bottom of the crime herself.
Critique
This tenth entry in the Flavia de Luce series doesn't disappoint. The usually precocious Flavia is maturing, forming a sort of truce with her sisters, even as she continues bending the law in order to get to the bottom of criminal activity. Though the mystery is a bit anticlimactic, this novel is just as good, if not better, than the previous ones in the series.
