Summary
Romy is a 29-year-old single mother who worked at a strip club in San Francisco until she made a life changing mistake--she killed a man who was stalking her and now is serving 2 life sentences in California's Stanville Women’s Correctional Facility. There, amidst deplorable conditions, she and the other incarcerated must figure out a way to deal with life on the inside.
Critique
A gritty and unflinching look at the American prison system. This difficult read is poignantly written and characters are empathically drawn. Sad and memorable, important reading.
