Summary
London Book editor, Samantha "Sam" Clair finds her orderly life upended after a murder during West End Theatre opening. To the audience's horror, the director is found - literally - hanging from the rafters. Sam's curiosity and connection to the production lead her to investigate the murder. But the clues only lead her closer to danger, and to the elusive killer.
Critique
Flander's "Sam Clair" mysteries combine intriguing plots, a delightful cast of fellow amateur sleuths, and a very funny protagonist. Working full time as a book editor, Sam confidently keeps the literary chaos of her work duties at bay while doggedly pursuing answers to solve the murder(s). She is helped by an indispensable and endearing network of colleagues, friends, and family. A delightful and engaging mystery. (Start the Sam Clair Series with A Murder of Magpies.)
