Summary
Forty years ago, writer Anthony Peardew lost his fiancée’s special pendant on the same day she unexpectedly died, and Anthony grieved all the rest of his life. When Andrew dies decades later, he wills to his housekeeper and friend, Laura, his home and its room filled with hundreds of lost items he’s found and collected over the years. The two-part catch is that Laura make friends with a neighbor girl with down syndrome, Sunshine, and make an effort to reunite all the lost things with their rightful owners. A bit lost herself, Laura will need help in this daunting task--one that might just save her in the process.
Critique
This novel has a dual story line that comes together nicely at the end. With engaging characters and a bit of magic realism, this charming read is just the right amount of sappy in the way that happy-ending stories are.
