Summary
Rosa Sauer's parents are dead and her husband is off fighting on the front line during WWII. Living with her in-laws, 26-year-old Rosa and several other women were conscripted to serve as food tasters for Hitler at the Wolf's Lair in East Prussia. There were rumors that Hitler was going to be poisoned. If the women suffered no ill effects from eating the food, it was safe to serve Hitler.
Critique
Translated from Italian this is an unsettling compelling novel.
