Summary
This novel follows the lives of four women, including two Americans, preceding and during WWII who are part of the resistance movement. Mildred Fish Harnack, Greta Kuckoff, Sara Weitz, and Martha Dodd, daughter of the US ambassador, all could have left Germany at one point but decide to stay and continue the struggle. Not everyone makes it out alive.
Critique
A sweeping memorable WWII novel with strong female characters.
