Summary
Former war reporter Henri Skinner rescues a drowning girl from the Thames, staggers into traffic, and is hit by a car that leaves him in a coma, completely unresponsive. The story is told in alternating chapters by Henri, Sam, and Eddie through flashbacks which helps keep Henriís memory alive. Sam is Henriís 13-year-old son who never spent any time with Henri before the accident. Eddie was Samís girlfriend and had not been a part of his life for the last two years. Young Sam also spends time with 12-year-old Madelyn who is also in a coma after an accident that killed her family.
Critique
A slow-moving emotional novel but well worth the effort.
